Features:After 1km of tarseal, the track turns to gravel and basically deteriorates the further along you go. Rameka Gorge is an interesting piece of the track as it winds by Rameka Creek. Then it's up the hill to the ridge line and it heads further east. There's a ford to cross, which is always fun, but just be careful of the water flow. At the end of the track there's a walking track and if you have a mountain bike on the back, you can take it along the walking track for a bit of fun. This track heads into the Abel Tasman National Park and ends at a place called Harwoods Hole. Although the trip is an easy one, you still need to take care. There is an interesting side-track off Rameka Track that only goes for 1.2km, but you get to cross three fords, one with a steep entry which is the feature of this little offshoot.
Accommodation:A range of accommodation is available in Takaka.
