Hugh Ensor grew up with an intense love of the sea, spending his boyhood years on the East Coast near Gisborne learning to fishing and hunt. After finishing school he did an apprenticeship as an Engineer which has stood him in good stead, maintaining his current three vessels. His childhood love of the sea led to him following a career as a commercial diver and he spent six years working in various countries on the offshore oilfield industry.

Hugh holds a NZ Commercial Launch Masters ticket and he has an awesome reputation for putting fish on the boat, he and his wife Raewyn operate three charter boats out of Tauranga Harbour and specialize in reef and hapuku fishing anywhere in the Bay of Plenty.
